On Behalf of | Jul 26, 2021 | Personal Injury |

Law enforcement officials in Texas are in the process of investigating a tragic car accident that recently occurred in Belton. One person is said to have died, and several others suffered significant injuries. Distracted driving is believed to have been a contributing factor in this crash.

What happened?

According to reports, this collision occurred early in the day on July 20. Traffic was slowed on I-35 near Shanklin Road, but one driver failed to notice and ran his or her car full speed into the vehicles in front of it. Multiple automobiles were impacted — seven in all. A total of 12 people were involved. A 13-year-old male died at the scene, while at least six other victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The driver responsible

Reports of this event offer little, if any, information about the driver believed responsible. It is unclear if this individual will face any charges for their role in the crash. The investigation into this matter is still ongoing.

Compensation likely available

After a car crash like this, the victims and the loved ones of those who failed to survive are likely to experience significant physical, financial and emotional losses from which they may struggle to recover. Thankfully, Texas laws allow them to seek relief so they do not have to bear the burden of their losses on their own. Legal claims may be filed against the driver believed responsible in an effort to seek maximum compensation for any resulting damages that the state deems recoverable.
