A woman was killed in a recent Texas car accident. The multi-car wreck took place on a recent Wednesday afternoon. It happened along Texas State Highway 236.
How the motor vehicle accident happened
The tragedy occurred at about 2:20 p.m. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 65-year-old man was in a pickup truck and headed north on the highway. A second pickup truck towing a trailer was westbound on Texas State Highway 36.
Authorities said the man driving the first pickup truck did not yield to traffic after reaching a stop sign. His truck then reportedly hit the second truck. A 66-year-old woman who was a passenger in the first pickup passed away at the crash scene. Police continue to investigate the cause of the wreck.
Legal recourse
The surviving family members of the woman who died in the Texas motor vehicle crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the driver of the vehicle she occupied, seeking the reimbursement of documented financial damages incurred as a result of the crash. Once liability is formally established in court based on proof of negligence, the court will adjudicate claims for monetary relief. If the plaintiffs are successful in court, they might be awarded monetary damages to cover the woman’s burial costs and any loss of support for her surviving dependents. No amount of money can undo events that have already taken place, but financial damages may help the deceased woman’s surviving family members move forward from the tragedy.
