Teen passenger dies in accident with semi-truck

On Behalf of | Jun 17, 2018 | Personal Injury |

A teenager is dead after an accident with a semi-truck, and the teen was merely an unsuspecting passenger at the time of the crash.

The accident happened in Harlingen, Texas. Reports indicate that occurred right after 7:00 p.m., on June 11, 2018, and that it took place on FM 106.

The incident is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) officers as of the latest reports, and they have not yet concluded their investigation. However, they did say that it appears that a semi-truck was supposed to yield the right of way to a white Ford Ranger, which is a small pickup truck. For reasons that are not yet known, the semi allegedly failed to do so, striking the Ranger.

The person who was driving the Ranger did get hurt in the wreck, and the emergency crews had to take that driver to a local hospital. The person’s condition and the nature of those injuries was not reported, though news channels called them “possible injuries.”

Of the passenger, things were far more certain. He or she was killed in the wreck and pronounced dead while still at the crash scene. Information has been withheld since that person is a minor, but reports did indicate that he or she was just 14 years old at the time of the accident.

Video from the scene shows a wide road, moving through an intersection, with open fields on both sides and large industrial buildings in the background.

When a loved one is tragically killed in a car accident, it is very important for family members to understand all of the rights they have to financial compensation.
