There are many good and selfless people in the state of Texas who will step up and help others in their time of need — sometimes to their own detriment. A former Miss Waco is such a person. On Feb. 6, she stopped to help a family who had been involved in a car crash and ended up getting hurt herself.
Here’s what happened
According to reports, a little before 8 p.m., the driver of a compact car failed to yield the right of way and was struck by a Jeep. The former Miss Waco came upon the accident scene and stopped to help. While doing so, a passing vehicle hit the Jeep and her.
How’s the victim doing now?
She was transported via helicopter to a medical center in Temple promptly after the collision. At the time, she was listed in critical condition. It is unclear how she is doing now, a month later. Her family has asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Compensation may be available
According to Texas laws, following a car crash, victims or their loved ones may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses. In this case, the former Miss Waco may file civil claims against the driver of the vehicle that struck her. Typically, cases like this are resolved through out-of-court negotiations with the responsible party’s insurance provider; however, litigation sometimes proves necessary to achieve maximum relief. An experienced personal injury attorney can review the finer details of this incident and help the victim do what is necessary to seek fair and full compensation for her losses.
