Higher risk for car accidents on certain Texas highways

On Behalf of | Nov 18, 2022 | Personal Injury |

When driving anywhere in Texas, it is of course important to pay attention and take precautions to stay safe. However, the reality is that some roads have a higher rate of serious car accidents than others. Here are three particular highways in the state that are responsible for a significant number of car accidents resulting in serious injuries and even deaths:

  • I-45: Sadly, there is an average of one fatality per day along the stretch of Interstate 45 in the state, making it a particularly high-risk highway. There are a few reasons for this risk, including a high level of traffic, susceptibility to weather conditions and a significant number of distracted drivers.
  • US-83: This highway has similar fatality figures to I-45, though there are not quite as many. Similar to I-45, US-83 can be quite busy and speeding is not infrequent. Other factors to consider with this highway include the fact that it stretches through rural areas where speeding may be more common, and it attracts high winds that can impact drivers at times.
  • I-10: The stretch of Interstate 10 throughout the state features many curves, which can result in accidents if taken too quickly or if the elements are not favorable. While this is a highly necessary highway, especially for commercial routes, it certainly comes with some dangers.

Some of the most common reasons for car accidents include distracted driving, speeding and weather. When driving at high speeds as one would on the above-listed highways, it is clear how some of these issues could result in bad outcomes for those involved, especially victims of these incidents. Drivers should of course take all precautions possible to avoid a collision, but sadly, there is always a risk when on the road with other motorists. Those who have been injured in a car accident through no fault of their own could greatly benefit from reaching out to an experienced Texas personal injury lawyer to understand their options.
