Have a safer Labor Day weekend

On Behalf of | Aug 18, 2025 | Personal Injury |

Texans love to throw a good party, especially if they plan on grilling up some barbecue with friends or family. The upcoming Labor Day holiday gives BBQ masters another opportunity to flex their grill skills.

But first, a few words of caution about your and your family’s safety this upcoming Labor Day.

Holiday bookends deadly summer period

Labor Day is summer’s unofficial end. Also, the 100 deadliest days of summer that began on Memorial Day weekend culminates with the September holiday. It officially closes an approximate hundred-day period of enhanced highway dangers due to increased vacation traffic and other factors.

People still traveling throughout Labor Day

There’s a reason that holiday rates don’t drop until after Labor Day. Families and individuals who are determined to get the last gasp out of Summer 2025 tend to take to the highways and scenic byways of the Lone Star state. Any time there is a significant uptick in the normal traffic volume, there are typically also more accidents.

Fun is equated with alcohol usage

Having some beers on the beach or at the lakeside cabin is fine. It’s only when imbibers climb behind the wheels of their automobiles that the danger rises precipitously for them and all whom they encounter on the roads.

Below are some safety tips that could save lives and prevent injuries:

  • Insist all riders wear seat belts
  • Obey traffic laws and speed limits
  • Only use cellphones when parked
  • Inform friends and family about your travel plans
  • If you’re traveling far, get plenty of rest and take frequent breaks

Of course, you can be the safest driver in the world and still face the consequences of another driver’s negligence.

If you get injured in a car accident, you may be able to pursue civil justice by filing a claim for damages and other losses.
